Jamiatul Ulama South Africa

Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (formerly Transvaal) was established in 1923. It serves the Muslim community in Gauteng, North-West, Mpumalanga, Northern Province, Free State and some areas of Northern Cape. It’s a founder member of the United Ulama Council of South Africa, a national body representing all major Muslim Theological bodies in the country. It’s a member of SA Haj & Umrah Council, Religious AIDS Programm, SA National Defence Force (Chaplain Service), SA National Halaal Authority and SA Prisons Board.

Maktab Syllabi from Grade 1 to 10 provided including text-books, stationery etc.
Examinations of Maktabs.
Workshops to improve teaching methods.
Marriage Counselling.
Radio Islam founded by Jamiat.
Islamic Careline: confidential telephone counselling service.
Sighting of New Moon: Jamiat has Hilaal Committees in every town under its jurisdiction to sight the moon and determine Islamic Dates.
Relief work in Bosnia, Kashmir, Bangladesh, India, Somalia, Palestine, Kosova.
Welfare for widows, orphans, the poor.
