Three Gold Bars

Jesus (Isa) (alaihis salaam) was walking with a person. When it came time to eat, Isa (alaihis salaam) took out three pieces of bread. He gave one to his companion, ate one himself and said that they would leave the third till later.
Isa (alaihis salaam) went to sleep. His companion ate the third piece of bread and, when Isa (alaihis salaam) awoke, lied that he did not know who had eaten the third piece. Isa (alaihis salaam) told him not to worry about it and they proceeded on their journey. After some time they came upon three bars of gold. Isa (alaihis salaam) said that one bar was for himself, one for his companion and the third for the one who’d eaten the third piece of bread.
Greed for worldly riches prompted the man to confess that he’d eaten the bread. Isa (alaihis salaam) told him to take all the gold and they parted ways. For gold, the man lost the company of a Prophet. While the man was sitting with the gold bars, two thieves came along. Pleading for his life, the man suggested that they share the gold. The thieves agreed. They appointed one man to go to the town and buy food for them.
The one who went to buy the food decided to eat his share and poison the others’ food. Meanwhile, the other two decided to ambush and kill him as he returned with the food. As he arrived, he was ambushed and killed. The other two ate the poisoned food and died. There lay three bodies with three bars of gold.
This is the reality of this world and greed for it. All who want it, even if it means sinning to get it, perish empty-handed.
