A Glimpse into Paradise

The final destination of every Muslim is Jannah (Paradise). To encourage us to get there, the Qur’aan and Hadith are filled with glimpses into its pleasures. Here are a few to look forward to:

Ibn Abbaas (Radhiallahu anhuma) speaking about the clothes of Paradise, said: ‘There is a tree in Paradise which will bear fruit similar to a pomegranate. When a friend of Allah will desire clothes, the tree will automatically present to him 70 pairs of clothes, each with a different colour. (After he has chosen what he desires,) the tree will return back to its place.’ (Ibn Abi Dunya)

Abdur Rahmaan ibn Saidah (Radhiallahu anhu) narrates that he used to love horses, so he said to the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), ‘O Prophet of Allah, will there be horses in Paradise?’ The Prophet (sallallahu laihi wa sallam) said: ‘O Abdur Rahmaan, if Allah enters you into Paradise, you will receive a horse made from a ruby which will have two wings. This horse will fly you wherever you desire.’ (Tabrani)

The people of Paradise will talk to one another about the amusements of the world and will desire them. Allah will send a wind which will shake the tree they are sitting under, causing it to recreate all the amusements of the world. (Ibn Abi Dunya)

The person in the lowest level of Paradise will have 300 servants who will bring him/her 300 plates of food in the morning and evening. The plates will be made of gold and silver, and every plate will have a type of food different from the other. He/She will enjoy the last plate just as he/she enjoyed the first. (Ahmad)

For this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss [Qur’aan, 83:25]
