The Islamic Care and Outreach Network (ICON) was established in 2003 in Port Elizabeth by a group of women. ICON is supported by South African National Zakaah Fund and the community.
OBJECTIVES
To empower the community by relieving psychological and social stress and challenges by offering supportive counseling and developmental services.
SOME SERVICES & ACTIVITIES
Counseling: marriage, drug abuse, sexual abuse, trauma, grief. ICON office at Movement Hall, Parkside.
Outreach: empowering unemployed with skills like computer literacy, crafts, sewing, etc.
House visits: to the aged, underprivileged, orphans.
Campaign: 30 days of activism against abuse in Ramadaan and beyond.
Ramadaan soup kitchen.
Monthly Zikr programs.
Madressa at the Movement Hall, Tue 10:30 am - 12:00 pm.
Food parcels for child-headed households in Kwanobuhle.
Ramadaan clothing drive.
