In 1999 the Muslim Judicial Council opened a Department of Da’wah headed by Dr Abdullah Hakeem Quick. This led to the Discover Islam Centre (DIC) being established in 2005. DIC is a non-profit organisation.
Some Activities
Qur'aan Distribution Project. Over 5,000 have been distributed.
Establishment of international network of Da'wah communications.
Production of Da'wah literature including pamphlets, essay's and booklets. Thousands of information pamphlets distributed.
Translation of Islamic literature into local languages.
Training of Da'wah workers.
Production of Islamic audio-visual media.
Da'wah Caravans in South Africa and neighbouring states.
Lectures and guided tours to Musjids.
DIC aims to create sustainable socio-economic development programs (skills) and provide educational courses for new Muslims as well as present information on Islam to non Muslims. DIC networks with community and government agencies to avoid duplication of services. These organisations include the Dawah Co-ordinating Forum and Muslim Judicial Council. It relies on volunteer workers for many of its activities.
